Description
Convent in Umatic used as a hospital for the sailors of the Astrolabe. From our extensive collection of Antique Maps, Prints and Photos of Guam and Micronesia; from the Folio Collection of prints from the Dumont d Urville voyage of the L'Astrolabe. Louis Auguste de Sainson was the official artist on board. This archival reproduction of the original circa 1835 print in our collection. Beautiful hand-colored rendering of the original print showing the abandoned covent in Umatic. The staircase walls just below the two men standing are still there today, next to the school. Plate 199 in the folio collection. (NOTE: Since this is high resolution reproduction of the original antique print from 1835, there are some small natural areas of coloration in the print, which are typical of a 200 year old print and areto be expected.)
